40/20/40
Speak Up. Screen Up. Heal Up.
At E.R.I.C. (501c3), we follow a strategic framework called the 40/20/40 Model — designed to balance education, action, and ongoing support. By tailoring how we deliver each component, we ensure that no community is left behind — no matter the language, culture, or access to technology.

Speak Up
40% Education & Outreach
We begin with education and empowerment. Our Train the Teacher model equips students, coaches, teachers, and community leaders to become breast health advocates — teaching others how to recognize signs and symptoms and perform self-breast exams.
To reach every corner of the globe, we use a no-tech, low-tech, high-tech delivery approach:
- No-tech: In-person storytelling, E.R.I.C. Promise Bracelets as teaching tools
- Low-tech: Printed diagrams and classroom visuals
- High-tech: Digital lessons, QR-coded resources, and video content
This layered method allows us to Speak Up in ways that are culturally relevant, accessible, and scalable — from rural Uganda to urban Dallas.
Screen Up
20% Screenings & Self-Breast Exam Training
We pair education with real access to early detection tools. Through free or low-cost community-based screenings, we help ensure that everyone has the opportunity to take action.
We also provide breast self-exam (BSE) training, both in person and through tech-enabled platforms. As part of our high-tech strategy, we partner with the Dear Mamma App, a free mobile app designed to teach BSE techniques, track reminders, and support users globally in their early detection efforts.
This partnership helps us scale screening support and BSE training even further — putting powerful tools directly in the hands of the people we serve.

Heal Up
40% Follow-Up Support & the Cancer Playbook
Healing is a process — and we’re committed to walking alongside every patient we reach. Our Heal Up work includes patient navigation, support group connections, survivor follow-up, and practical aid.
It also includes access to the Cancer Playbook — a dynamic, interactive platform powered by patient-reported outcomes (PROs). Through the Playbook, individuals can search by diagnosis, symptom, or treatment, and learn what real patients did, what worked, and how others are healing.
The Cancer Playbook transforms personal stories into shared strength — helping patients feel seen, supported, and empowered to make informed choices.
